SEBIR / Hotels and venues
Hosting a Jewish group? We take care of kosher food, Shabbat and everything your team is not set up for.
SEBIR is a local operations partner between your hotel and the group. We explain the requirements, set up the kitchen and Shabbat, and coordinate the stay on site - so your team works as usual and the guests get exactly what they expect.
First reply usually within 24 hours. No obligation, no charge for a quote.
Your questions
What hotels usually ask us first
- Does our kitchen have to be kosher - and can we do this without changing it?
- What exactly happens on Shabbat - keys, lifts, lights, meals?
- Who is responsible if something goes wrong with kashrut?
- Can we offer kosher meals to individual guests, not only to groups?
These are the right questions. The answers depend on the group and on your venue - which is exactly why it helps to talk to us before you confirm a booking.
The context
What a Jewish group needs from a hotel
- Kosher meals at the standard set by the group's rabbi - from everyday kosher to strict mehadrin.
- Shabbat from Friday evening to Saturday night: meals prepared in advance, a room for prayer, a Shabbat lift, room access without electronic keys, lights set before Shabbat.
- Separate dining and, for larger groups, rooms for sessions and a hall where everyone can eat together on Shabbat.
- A different rhythm: later breakfasts, activities late into the evening.
We do not make religious rulings - the group's rabbi and our mashgiach do. Our job is to make it work in your building.

Our part
How we make it work
A. A group is coming
- We kasher your kitchen for the stay and cook on site - or bring kosher catering - whichever fits your venue.
- Our mashgiach supervises the kitchen and products around the clock.
- We prepare Shabbat: meals, prayer room, lift, keys, timers.
- We brief your staff so nobody is caught off guard.
- One SEBIR coordinator stays with the group from arrival to departure.
B. Kosher meals for individual guests
Some hotels want to offer kosher meals to individual guests without changing their kitchen - for example sealed meals from a certified kosher producer, served by your team according to clear procedures.
We are developing this model with hotels. If this is your situation, tell us about it - we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Step by step
How it works
- You write to usSend us the dates, the number of guests and what you know about the group. First reply usually within 24 hours.
- We check what is feasible at your venueWe prepare one plan: kitchen, meals, Shabbat, schedule and price. Before you promise the guests anything, you know exactly what can be done.
- We are on siteFor the whole stay - one point of contact for your hotel.

Questions from hotels
Does my kitchen have to be kosher?
No. Either we kasher your kitchen for the time of the stay and cook on site, or we provide kosher catering - depending on what your venue allows. The standard is set by the group's rabbi.
Can our own chefs cook kosher under supervision?
It depends on the standard and on the rabbi supervising the group - that decision is his, not ours. In many cases a Jew has to take part in the cooking (Bishul Yisrael) and the kitchen has to be kashered first. We will tell you what applies in your case.
How far in advance should we plan?
It depends on the dates, group size and requirements, and above all on your availability. A group at a venue with open dates usually needs 1-2 months; large groups and holiday periods - much earlier.
What is a Shabbat lift and what else do we need to prepare?
A lift set to stop at every floor automatically, so guests do not have to press buttons on Shabbat. We also arrange room access without electronic keys and lights set before Shabbat begins.
Is there a minimum group size?
No fixed minimum - a group starts at about 8-12 people.
How does billing work?
Accommodation and room hire are agreed and invoiced between your hotel and the group's organizer. SEBIR invoices only its own services - kosher food, Shabbat and coordination.
Does our team have to learn anything?
No special knowledge is needed. We brief your staff on what matters and stay with the group throughout, so your team works as usual.
