The table gives the dates of the Jewish holidays in 2027 according to the diaspora calendar (Hebcal). Holidays begin the evening before, so arrival, dinner and check-in are planned for the previous evening. Several dates run into Shabbat or sit right beside it, and the fasts of Yom Kippur and Tisha B'Av set the dates we avoid for camps.

What this means for an organizer
- The evening before. A calendar day in the table begins the evening before, after sunset. Plan the group's arrival so that it is in before dark.
- Type of day. On days with work restrictions, rules close to those of Shabbat apply; on multi-day festivals (Pesach, Sukkot) they apply in full to the first and last days, while the middle days have their own rules. The scope for a given group is set by its rabbi; we do not impose it.
- Diaspora and Israel. The table gives the dates observed in the diaspora, which includes Poland. In Israel several festivals are a day shorter, so a group from Israel may count differently; confirm the dates with its organizer.
- Different customs. Communities differ in custom and interpretation, so we do not describe the rules of individual holidays here. That is a matter for the group's rabbi.
Fast days and camp dates
For camps we try not to fill dates right before and right after fast days, that is before Yom Kippur (Mon 11.10) and Tisha B'Av (Thu 12.08). The reason is practical and concerns the mashgiach: if he arrives just before the fast and then works straight after it, hungry and tired, or koshers a kitchen and goes straight into the fast, there are no good conditions to work in. If you plan a trip on these dates, write to us early and we will agree a sensible arrangement together with your rabbi.
Shabbat next to a holiday
For ordinary Fridays and Saturdays we have a separate page with candle-lighting and havdalah times in Krakow for every week of 2027: Shabbat times in Krakow. On holidays that fall on a Saturday or right next to one (in 2027, among others, the start of October), the times and rules differ from an ordinary Shabbat, so we discuss those weeks separately with the group's rabbi.

Does SEBIR organize the holidays?
SEBIR runs kosher kitchens and Shabbat for groups. The plan for a given date, including dates around holidays, is set with the organizer and the group's rabbi; we do not describe or impose the rules of the holidays.
SEBIR runs kosher kitchens and Shabbat for groups in Poland and Europe, from Portugal to the Caucasus. We set the plan for a given date with the organizer and the group's rabbi. If you know when you want to travel, write to us.
