Attractions and Recreation in Poland - for Groups

SEBIR📍 Polska
A good program is more than memorial sites - a group also needs to breathe and enjoy. After a heavy day it is worth planning something active, family-friendly, or simply pleasant. Below are ideas that SEBIR tailors to the group's age and character and combines with the heritage routes. Note: we offer water parks and thermal baths to non-orthodox groups; for groups observing tzniut we suggest them only on explicit request (mixed bathing).

Active in nature

Nature with a touch of tradition - routes matched to the group.

  • Dunajec River rafting - on traditional rafts or pontoons, the Pieniny gorge
  • Kayaking - Krutynia (Masuria), Czarna Hańcza, Brda, also the Dunajec
  • Cycling - the Green Velo trail across eastern Poland, VeloDunajec
  • Mountains and trails - Tatras (Morskie Oko), Pieniny, Bieszczady, Ojców NP
  • Rope parks - bridges, ziplines and treetop courses
  • Boat cruises - Masurian lakes, the Vistula, the Bay of Gdańsk

Amusement parks and for kids

Great especially for family and youth groups.

  • Energylandia (Zator) - the largest amusement park in Poland
  • Zatorland (Zator) - dinosaur park, family-friendly
  • Copernicus Science Centre (Warsaw) - hands-on experiments
  • Grawitacja Park - trampolines, rope bridges, lots of activity
  • Party photo booth - an add-on for groups and families, arranged by SEBIR
  • Bowling, billiards, escape rooms and laser tag - indoor fun in any weather
  • City quest - exploring the city as a game

We once took a group to a trampoline park. First lesson? Socks. Grip socks are sacred - no socks, no trampolines - and our group found out on the spot. It ended with a socks-for-everyone run and a good laugh that even the best plan can be undone by... a single pair of socks.

But the real adventure began on the rope bridges. Our time was long up, the coach was waiting, and half the group was dangling somewhere high between the platforms with no intention of coming down. "One more crossing!" we heard from above for the tenth time. Rounding up a group from a ropes course is a sport in itself: a little negotiation, a promise of ice cream, and finally everyone on the ground - tired, happy, and already asking when we go again. These are the moments groups remember most - which is why our program always leaves room for a bit of madness (and a spare pair of socks).

Unique places in Poland

Something that impresses every group.

  • Wieliczka Salt Mine - an underground world of chambers and lakes (UNESCO)
  • Zakopane and the Tatras - capital of Poland's mountains, cable cars, Krupówki
  • Bieszczady - wild mountains and high meadows
  • Kazimierz Dolny - a picturesque town on the Vistula
  • Białowieża - bison and primeval forest (UNESCO)

Shopping - malls with known brands

An important stop for many groups - large malls with international brands.

  • Kraków - Galeria Krakowska (by the station), Bonarka City Center
  • Warsaw - Westfield Arkadia, Westfield Mokotów, Złote Tarasy
  • Łódź - Manufaktura, in Poznański's historic factory
  • Other big cities - modern malls with brands from around the world

In winter - snow and mountains

We match the program to the season, too.

  • Skiing and snowboarding - Zakopane and the Tatras, slopes for every level
  • Horse-drawn sleigh rides - sleighs, a bonfire and hot tea
  • Ice rinks and winter walks - through valleys and snowy trails

Sports and adrenaline - on request

For willing groups and individuals - we arrange stronger thrills too.

  • Windsurfing and kitesurfing - Hel, Puck Bay, Jastarnia
  • Sailing - the Masurian lakes and the coast
  • 4x4 off-road - off-road expeditions
  • Zorbing - rolling downhill in a giant inflatable ball
  • ...and any other activity a group can dream up - we will arrange it

Trips to neighboring countries

One-day or multi-day trips just across the border - combined with your program in Poland.

  • Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Austria - day trips and multi-day tours
  • Water parks and thermal baths (for non-orthodox groups) - a wide choice in Poland, Slovakia and Czechia
  • Traces of Jewish culture and memory - synagogues, cemeteries, quarters and museums along the way
  • Cities, nature and entertainment - matched to the group

Stories from the road

Real days with our groups - because a program is about people and moments.

When the Rafts Hit the Water

The Pieniny mountains, midsummer. Sun on your face, mountain breeze on your neck, and one by one the wooden rafts push out onto the Dunajec. On the first: four counsellors and five teenagers from New York who have never seen a mountain up close. On the second: a rabbi and his assistant, both in black hats, completely unperturbed as their raft bounces off a rock.

A Dunajec river rafting trip with a Jewish group is one of those experiences that can't quite be captured in a brochure. You have to be there.

Why the Dunajec - and Why With Us

Dunajec rafting is one of Poland's most spectacular tourist experiences - and one of the few that works brilliantly for groups of any age, fitness level, and adventure appetite. The Pieniny gorge, white limestone cliffs, and water that shifts from turquoise to deep green depending on the light - this is not scenery to rush past.

For Jewish groups, the Dunajec has an additional dimension. Many families visiting Poland have roots in this region - ancestors from Galicia, from small towns that no longer exist. The view of the Pieniny from a raft can be unexpectedly moving. And unexpectedly wet.

The Logistics Worth Knowing in Advance

Organising a rafting trip for a Jewish group isn't just booking seats. It's coordinating with the rafting operators, arranging kosher meals along the route, ensuring safety - and, with larger groups, synchronising thirty rafts so nobody gets lost in the Polish mountains.

We make sure there's a kosher meal option at the start and end points - sandwiches, fruit, something warm if the weather turns. Because after two hours on the water, even a rabbi is hungry. Especially a rabbi.

That Moment at the Bend

There's one moment on the rafting route that every group remembers. It's the bend near the Sokolica rock - the raft rounds the corner and suddenly the view opens up in a way no camera can fully capture. Limestone cliffs to the left, forest to the horizon on the right, and the Dunajec winding silver ahead.

At that moment, conversations stop. Even the most animated ones. Even on rafts full of teenagers.

Dunajec rafting isn't just a tourist activity. It's a reminder that Poland is a country that can take your breath away - and that a trip here isn't only history and museums, but also the river at dawn and a wooden raft shared with four strangers who, for a moment, are speaking the same language.

How to Organise a Rafting Trip for a Jewish Group

SEBIR handles the full organisation of Dunajec rafting trips for Jewish groups - operator booking, transport, kosher meals, and return logistics. We schedule around the Jewish calendar and do not arrange excursions on Shabbat or Jewish holidays.

Ask us about availability and logistics. The Pieniny are beautiful for most of the year - and the Dunajec is waiting.

First Half - Everyone Confident of Victory

A hotel football pitch in Zakopane, Saturday afternoon (after Shabbat, naturally). Two teams, two colours of shirts, and our coordinator Tomek as referee - a man who knows about football roughly as much as he knows about kashrut, which is to say, quite a lot. And the noise. The sheer, uncontrollable, completely magnificent noise of a group that had spent five days visiting memorials and was ready to run, shout, and score.

Sport with Jewish groups is one of those programme elements that organisers add "to fill time between the museum and dinner." And then it turns out to be the moment everyone remembers longest.

Why Sport Matters in a Jewish Group Programme

Jewish group trips to Poland typically have an intensive historical and cultural programme. That's important. But intensity has a cost - emotional, physical, psychological. Especially for young people who have spent several days processing the history of the Holocaust, visiting death camps, walking through towns that no longer exist.

In this context, sport isn't entertainment. It's therapy. A physical way to process difficult experiences. Running, football, outdoor challenges - all of it helps participants return to their bodies after days spent entirely in their heads and hearts.

Experienced Taglit and March of the Living programme directors know this. So do we.

The Championship Match With Nothing at Stake

The best football match we ever organised? Israelis versus Americans. Thirty players on the pitch, twenty spectators, one rabbi as VIP in the stands (a plastic chair, but VIP). Final score: 4-3 to Israel, with a last-minute goal that was probably audible in Kraków.

After the match, everyone sat together on the grass and talked. About football, about family, about life. Sport does that.

Sport and Recreation for Jewish Groups in Poland

SEBIR organises sport and recreation activities as part of full-service Jewish group programmes in Poland. We tailor activities to the group - different options for Taglit, for senior groups, for families with children.

We have access to pitches, sports halls, and outdoor spaces across Poland - Kraków, Zakopane, Warsaw, the Lublin area. All activities are planned around the Jewish calendar, always after Shabbat ends.

Ask us about building a programme. Sport isn't a filler. It's part of the journey.

We tailor the program to your group

SEBIR combines sightseeing and remembrance with activity and rest - with transport, kosher meals, and lodging. Tell us the kind of group (families, youth, adults) and we will balance a "heavy" day and a "light" day so everything makes sense.

Note
For non-orthodox groups we offer a wide choice of water parks and thermal baths (Poland, Slovakia, Czechia). For groups observing tzniut we skip them because of mixed bathing - suggesting them only on explicit request. We always match the program to the group's level of observance and character.
